The Irish Film Festival returned to Chiang Mai from 23rd–25th October, bringing five contemporary Irish films to SFX Cinema at MAYA for its eighth edition in Thailand.

Organised by the Embassy of Ireland in Thailand, the festival celebrated Ireland’s distinctive storytelling tradition with a programme of drama and documentary, presented in their original languages with Thai subtitles.

This year’s selection included Small Things Like These, starring Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy, alongside Báite, Spilt Milk, Girls & Boys and A Quiet Love. The programme also featured IFTA Best Actress in a Lead Role nominee Eleanor O’Brien.

The festival took place at House Samyan in Bangkok and SFX Cinema at MAYA in Chiang Mai, offering audiences a chance to explore contemporary Irish culture through film.

H.E. Nora Delaney, Ambassador of Ireland to Thailand, said the festival had become an important part of cultural engagement between the two countries, introducing Thai audiences to Irish stories, perspectives and traditions.

All screenings were free. Tickets were available from the cinema box office one hour before each screening, on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Chiang Mai screenings took place from 23rd–25th October 2026.
