On 28th June, a Buddhist monk, Phrakru Aod of Wat Chedi Luang, along with an animal welfare volunteer from the ARK Foundation rescued four abandoned Rottweilers found in the forest in the Mae Kam Pong village. The dogs were found in rain-soaked, starving condition and some of which suffered from deep wounds and severely maggot infections that required urgent medical treatment.

The rescue team fed the dogs to build trust and conducted a preliminary health check before transporting all four dogs to the animal care center for treatment.

The dogs had been surviving for days in a starving condition, with multiple wounds across their bodies. One was found seriously injured and an X-ray revealed several metal bullets embedded which the veterinary team is performing urgent surgery.

Phra Khru Od said the rescue is an urgent mission to save the animals from both physical and mental suffering. While there is a potential adopter who offers the dogs a new home, he has not yet made a decision, as the dogs are still need to receive physical treatment and psychological rehabilitation to ensure they are ready and safe for adoption.

“These dogs may seem worthless, but they are lives that should not be abandoned and deserve rescue. Seeing them safe again is what motivates us to continue helping helpless animals,” said Phra Khru Od.
