Jariya Attapornkul, 29, and one of the victims, revealed that the affected vendors were all operating in various flower markets in Chiang Mai. They bought cut flowers from farmers in Chiang Mai, then sent them to Phinyada for resale. The business relationship began via Facebook in early 2024 and had been smooth, with payments made regularly until around December 2024, when payments began to be delayed. Now she appeases to have stopped payments completely and closed shop.
One of the victims shared that when they were still able to contact her and asked why she wasn’t paying, Phinyada claimed she was facing financial problems after being scammed in a pyramid scheme.
Meanwhile, Police Lieutenant Pongsak Thiwanna, an investigator at Mae Ping Police Station, said that a preliminary report had been filed. Authorities will begin summoning the victims for questioning to determine whether the case qualifies as fraud, public fraud, or a breach of contract. He assured that the police would proceed swiftly in accordance with the law.
