Floodwater briefly overtakes low bridge in Mae Chaem following heavy highland rain

Heavy rainfall in the hills above Mae Chaem sent floodwater surging across the concrete bridge at Ban Kong Kan, Mae Suek subdistrict, Chiang Mai yesterday afternoon, between 4pm and 5pm.

The bridge sits relatively low over the stream, meaning that when large volumes of water converge rapidly, it can appear to be submerged — though officials were quick to clarify that water levels remained shallow and the flooding was short-lived, receding to normal within a short time.

Inspections confirmed no damage to homes or property in the area, and no residential flooding was recorded. Relevant authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and are urging residents to keep a close eye on weather and water level updates from official sources.
