Doi Suthep-Pui National Park has issued a clarification after images circulated on Facebook showing unauthorised work carried out in the park without permission from park officials.

According to the online reports, tree branches were cut and handrails installed across a stream along the Wang Bua Ban-Baan Khun Chang Kian nature trail, with the work reportedly carried out for the CM6 trail running event.

On 5th August 2026 park officials, together with the event organiser, inspected the site and confirmed the reports were accurate. The organiser told officials they had hired local residents to carry out the work without notifying park officials beforehand.

Officials informed the organiser that the unauthorised work violated Section 20 of the National Park Act B.E. 2562 (2019), with penalties under Section 47. Under the Fine as Administrative Penalty Act B.E. 2565 (2022), the park will issue a formal notice of allegation and summon the organiser to pay the administrative fine.
