The continued cold weather has helped sustain tourism in Chiang Mai even after the New Year holidays, with visitors still travelling to key attractions across the province. Natural sites and national parks remain particularly popular, as early-morning temperatures in some areas have dropped to single digits.
Fang Hot Springs in Fang district, located within Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park, has emerged as a favoured destination for health and nature tourism.
The hot springs span more than 10 rai and feature several natural pools with water temperatures ranging from 50 to 87 degrees Celsius. In some areas, steam rises high, creating a striking geothermal landscape surrounded by forested hills.
The park’s natural resources and effective management have earned it an “excellent” rating under the Thai Tourism Standard Assessment Programme for the 2025 fiscal year. Chiang Mai has three national park attractions receiving this top rating: Fang Hot Springs, the Ang Ka Nature Trail in Doi Inthanon National Park, and the Pong Dueat Hot Springs Nature Trail in Huai Nam Dang National Park, with certification valid for three years.
