The Citylife Garden Fair, held on the 25th November of last year, was a roaring success, seeing over 350 stalls, feed, entertain, sell to, and water over 12,000 Thais, expatriates and tourists who came to Boonthavorn Gardens on the day.
Thanks to a group of volunteers, led by Lulu Coombes, who helped run the tombola raffle and the silent auctions on the day, as well as to Chas Begley who riled up the bidders for the live auction, a total of 332,310 baht was raised for two local charities.
The Citylife Garden Fair has always been a non profit fair which raises money for local charities, over the past 20 years, since our first event raises money for tsunami victims in early 2005 we have raised countless millions of baht for causes in Chiang Mai and the north of Thailand.
This year’s two recipients of the Citylife Garden Fair were the Burma Children’s Medical Fund and the Chiang Mai Children Foundation.
The Burma Children’s Medical Fund will take their half of the money raised to purchase starter life kits for new born children along the borders of Thailand and Myanmar as well as those living in refugee camps on the border. This will include nappies, baby formulas and other essentials. While the Chiang Mai Children’s Foundation will be paying for school fees for their scholarship children in need.
We will be posting updates of how YOUR money was spent as we receive them from the two foundations.
In the meanwhile, a huge thanks to you all for your generous support. A massive thank you to the Boonthavorn team for providing such a wonderful setting to our annual event and my beloved Citylife team, lead by Nitkanung Wattanakun, who makes this very special event, Chiang Mai’s BIG Day Out.
