A neighbour in Fa Ham rescued two dogs left behind after their owner moved out of a rental house, taking everything but the pets. The dogs — a female chow chow named “Mee Tang” and a mixed-breed named “Nam Wan” — were found lingering by the empty house.
Unable to keep them himself, the man sheltered them by the fence with an umbrella during Chiang Mai’s ongoing rain, then took them by samlor to Wat Chedi Luang, where Phra Khru Ot agreed to care for them. Both dogs are healthy, cheerful and friendly, giving them a good chance of finding a new home.
“Poor things, abandoned. Today you have a home,” Phra Khru Ot said, adding that dogs need food, shelter and love just as people do. The rescuer said he was moved to tears, noting that unlike people, dogs cannot fend for themselves.
