Chiang Mai Deputy Governor Siwakorn Buapong chaired a progress meeting on the city’s Major Urban Power System Development Project Phase 1, covering the old city moat area, with the underground cabling work now at 90% complete.
National Telecom Public Company Limited is leading the communications cable side of the project, currently removing redundant legacy lines — a task 32% done — with traffic management support from Chiang Mai Provincial Police and debris clearance handled by Chiang Mai Municipality.
The deputy governor also directed district and municipal offices to each produce a beautification plan for at least one road in their area, focusing on tree trimming, footpath clearance and the removal of unauthorised signage, as part of the broader “Chiang Mai Clean City, Beautiful Streets, Lovely Flowers 2026” initiative.
