Chiang Mai Zoo officially opened its new reptile exhibit on 23rd June. Built at a cost of 29 million baht from the Zoological Park Organisation of Thailand’s 2025 fiscal year budget, the facility houses more than 160 reptiles across 26 display zones.

The exhibit incorporates Smart Zoo technology, including an interactive Smart Map system and digital media in Thai, English and Chinese, as well as 3D film screenings. The upgrades bring the zoo’s reptile displays in line with modern animal welfare standards while expanding its educational and conservation remit.

The new facility marks a significant step in developing Chiang Mai Zoo into a wildlife conservation centre, learning hub and creative tourism destination, with a particular focus on building conservation awareness among children and young people.

The opening also coincided with the zoo’s 49th anniversary, and reflects the Zoological Park Organisation’s commitment to raising international standards across its conservation, education and public service programmes.
