The Thai SME Federation, Chiang Mai Chapter, held an inauguration ceremony for its third executive committee, serving from 2026 to 2029, on Friday, 16th October at the main stage of LANNA EXPO 2026, held at the Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Under the theme “Transforming Opportunities for Chiang Mai MSMEs to Reach Global Markets,” the federation outlined its vision to strengthen local micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), enhance their competitiveness and create new business opportunities through collaboration across public and private sectors.
Anupong Rengrew, President of the Thai SME Federation, Chiang Mai Chapter, said the appointment of the new executive committee marked an important opportunity to reaffirm the federation’s commitment to its members and establish a clear direction for the coming three years.
He emphasised the importance of listening to entrepreneurs, encouraging active participation and ensuring that the federation’s initiatives deliver practical benefits to its members.
The federation aims to serve as a platform where local entrepreneurs can connect, exchange knowledge and support one another. It will also act as a central point for identifying business challenges, providing access to expertise and facilitating opportunities through partnerships with government agencies, private companies, educational institutions, financial organisations and other stakeholders.
A key priority for the 2026–2029 term is to build on Chiang Mai’s unique strengths, including its rich cultural heritage, traditional craftsmanship and creative industries, while helping local businesses improve product quality, meet international standards, strengthen management capabilities and embrace digital technology.
The federation also plans to support entrepreneurs in understanding market demands and identifying suitable opportunities for business expansion, both domestically and internationally.
Sivakorn Buapong, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai, who presided over the ceremony, highlighted the vital role of MSMEs in creating employment, generating income and supporting local communities.
He encouraged the newly appointed committee to work closely with its members, listen to their concerns and strengthen cooperation with relevant organisations to improve access to knowledge, resources and business opportunities.
The ceremony also provided opportunities for federation members to network with partner organisations and showcase their products and services through exhibition booths at LANNA EXPO 2026.
Looking ahead, the Thai SME Federation, Chiang Mai Chapter, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting sustainable business growth throughout its 2026–2029 term, helping local entrepreneurs strengthen their competitiveness while contributing to the long-term development of Chiang Mai’s economy.
