The Chiang Mai Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports held a FAM Trip called “Chiang Mai Night Out” on 2nd–3rd September 2026, part of the province’s 12 Months 12 Festivals high-value tourism programme, aimed at boosting gastronomy tourism and giving local dishes and know-how a bigger economic role.
Ittirath Sinarak, Chiang Mai’s Tourism and Sports Chief, welcomed media, influencers and tourism operators at The Clover Hotel Chiang Mai on the afternoon of 2nd September, where the group took part in a Lanna fusion drinks demonstration and learned to make khanom lin ma (also known as khanom piang), an old-style local sweet chosen as Chiang Mai’s “1 Province 1 Menu” dish for 2026.
That evening the group experienced a Lanna fine dining dinner at Rati Lanna Riverside Spa Resort Chiang Mai, hosted by Deputy Governor Boonlue Thammatiranurak alongside officials, media and tourism operators. The menu featured contemporary Lanna dishes built on local ingredients, including herbal miang kham, grilled pork neck with galangal chilli sauce, fresh mango and prawn salad, sour tuun curry with snakehead fish, chicken hangle curry with ginkgo nuts and Chiang Mai longan pudding.
The trip aims to raise awareness of Chiang Mai’s potential as a food-tourism destination, turning local culture, wisdom and ingredients into higher-value tourism products and market opportunities for operators and communities, while positioning the province as a sustainable gastronomy tourism destination.
