The Chiang Mai Online Media Association officially outlined its vision and strategic direction for 2026–2028 during its first Extraordinary General Meeting, held at the Khom Room, 7th Floor, Meliá Chiang Mai. The meeting marked an important milestone for the newly established professional organisation as it aims to strengthen collaboration among online media professionals while helping drive the social and economic development of Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand.

Addressing members for the first time as president of the association, Thanita Kunyosying, President of the Chiang Mai Online Media Association, presented the organisation’s vision:

“To become a modern online media hub that helps drive the social and economic development of Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand towards the future.”

She also introduced the association’s mission under the guiding principles of Connect • Create • Collaborate, focusing on building stronger partnerships, enhancing members’ professional capabilities, and raising the standards of online media in an increasingly digital world.

Speaking during the meeting, Thanita said that online media today must play a greater role than simply reporting news.

“Our responsibility extends beyond delivering information. Online media should help create opportunities, foster collaboration, and ensure that accurate and responsible information reaches society. Through this association, we want to build a strong professional network where members from every platform—whether websites, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or other digital media channels—can exchange knowledge, support one another and grow together.”

The association also announced its three-year strategic framework for 2026–2028, centred around five key priorities:

– Promoting professional standards and media ethics.
– Strengthening collaboration across online media platforms of all sizes.
– Enhancing members’ capabilities through digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and media business development.
– Expanding partnerships with government agencies, the private sector and other organisations to create new opportunities for members.
– Supporting social responsibility initiatives, environmental awareness and grassroots economic development throughout Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand.
– Looking ahead, the association plans to organise a series of professional development programmes, including AI and digital media workshops, industry seminars, networking events, tax and business management sessions for media professionals, as well as long-term community outreach projects designed to promote local businesses and strengthen regional communities.

Membership benefits will include complimentary access to selected training programmes and workshops, early access to government and private-sector initiatives, exclusive partner privileges, networking opportunities, and professional representation on issues affecting the online media industry.

The meeting represents a significant step in establishing the Chiang Mai Online Media Association as a professional platform that brings together digital media creators across Northern Thailand. By encouraging collaboration, promoting ethical journalism, and embracing technological innovation, the association hopes to help build a stronger online media ecosystem while contributing to the sustainable development of Chiang Mai and the wider northern region.
