Chiang Mai Night Market: Sankamphaeng Walking Street Opens for the First Time on 17 January 2026

Chiang Mai officially launched the Chiang Mai Night Market: Sankamphaeng Walking Street for the first time on 17 January 2026, offering a vibrant new nighttime attraction filled with dazzling lights, sounds, local products, delicious food, and a memorable atmosphere.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), together with Mr. Siwakor Buapong, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province, and Mr. Chakri Khattirat, Mayor of Sankamphaeng Municipality. The event was held in a lively atmosphere, drawing a large number of tourists and local residents.

The Chiang Mai Night Market is organized with the objective of stimulating the local economy and tourism, supporting entrepreneurs and local communities, and elevating the Sankamphaeng Walking Street into a creative tourism destination capable of attracting both Thai and international visitors on a continuous basis. The event showcases the charm of Chiang Mai at night through a wide range of activities, as well as local products and handicrafts that clearly reflect the unique identity of Sankamphaeng.
