Chiang Mai has joined forces with Lamphun, Lampang and Mae Hong Son to launch LANNA EXPO 2026, a seven-day event showcasing the region’s distinctive products, services and cultural heritage while creating new opportunities for local businesses to expand into domestic and international markets.
Organised by the Upper Northern Provincial Cluster 1 under the theme “The Lanna Synergy for Sustainability: From Local Strengths to Global Opportunities,” the expo aims to strengthen the competitiveness of regional entrepreneurs, promote sustainable economic growth and connect Lanna businesses with new markets.
Tossapol Puanudom, Governor of Chiang Mai and Head of the Upper Northern Provincial Cluster 1, highlighted the unique strengths of the four provinces, from traditional wisdom, culture and handicrafts to food, tourism and high-quality local products and services.
He explained that bringing together the strengths of Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang and Mae Hong Son would help increase the value of regional products, enhance business competitiveness and open doors to new trading opportunities.
“What makes this year’s LANNA EXPO particularly important is our focus on moving beyond simply showcasing local products and regional potential towards creating tangible business opportunities. Business matching will play a key role in connecting local entrepreneurs with buyers and partners from Thailand and overseas,” said the governor.
The event brings together 54 participating organisations, featuring more than 1,161 exhibition booths across 13 zones. Visitors can explore a wide variety of regional products and services, enjoy cultural performances, take part in promotional activities and experience live entertainment throughout the seven-day event.
The expo is expected to generate more than 200 million baht in economic activity.
Natthaporn Mahapaiboon, Chiang Mai Provincial Commerce Officer, said that the Chiang Mai Provincial Commerce Office and its partner organisations are committed to making LANNA EXPO 2026 a platform for strengthening local businesses, expanding market access and connecting promising products and services from the four provinces with consumers, investors and potential business partners.
“Business matching is at the heart of our efforts to expand market opportunities. This year, more than 140 domestic and international buyer matches are participating through both on-site and online channels, helping turn potential business connections into meaningful commercial opportunities,” she said.
Beyond its business focus, LANNA EXPO 2026 also offers residents and visitors an opportunity to discover the creativity, craftsmanship, flavours and cultural richness of Northern Thailand, all under one roof.
LANNA EXPO 2026 takes place from 12–18 October 2026, from 10am to 8pm, at the Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The public, tourists and anyone interested in Lanna culture and locally made products are invited to explore the expo and support businesses from across the four northern provinces.
