Presiding over the starting ceremony was Boonlue Thammatharanuruk, Chiang Mai’s Deputy Governor, who flagged off athletes at the Noen Num grounds in Huay Tung Tao amid an energetic crowd of both Thai and international participants.
The two-day event, running 6th–7th June, has attracted over 3,000 Spartan athletes from Thailand and more than 30 countries. Four race categories are featured across the weekend. Day one saw competition in the Super ELITE category — a 10-kilometre course with 25 obstacles — and the Sprint Open, covering 5 kilometres with 20 obstacles. Day two brings the Spartan Kids races (0.8–3.2 kilometres) and the Hurricane category, a gruelling four hour endurance format. All events are conducted under strict safety protocols overseen by onsite officials.
This year marks Chiang Mai’s third and final year as host of the international Spartan series, completing its contracted tenure as race venue. The baton now passes north, with the 2026 Spartan Super World Championship & Trifecta Weekend set to take place in Chiang Rai this December.
