Chiang Mai’s Provincial Public Health Office has launched spot checks on meatballs, moo yor and sausages after the FDA and Consumer Protection Police raided an illegal processed meat factory in Pathum Thani, seizing products from more than 20 brands and ordering retailers to pull them from shelves immediately.

Inspectors visited four sites in Mueang Chiang Mai, checking 55 product lines. No illegal items were found. Retailers were briefed on the prohibited brands and advised on how to verify FDA registration numbers.

Consumers are urged to check any processed meat products against the list of implicated brands and look for three things on the label: an FDA registration number, a clearly identified production facility and a visible expiry date. Suspiciously cheap products may indicate substandard ingredients. Anyone finding prohibited products at home should not consume them. Tips can be reported to the FDA hotline at 1556 or the ปคบ. Facebook page.
