Dr Waranyu Jamnongprasatporn, Chiang Mai’s Chief Provincial Medical Officer, said surveillance from 1st January to 30th June 2026 recorded 8,047 cumulative cases, highest in Chom Thong district, followed by San Sai, Omkoi, Mueang and Mae Taeng. No deaths have been reported, and numbers remain below the five-year median. Children aged 5-9 are worst affected, followed by 0-4 and 10-14 year-olds.
The office has told every district to step up risk communication ahead of the peak outbreak season at the end of the rainy season, urging people to watch for symptoms, seek treatment promptly and get an annual flu shot. Health facilities and venues where large groups gather—schools, military camps, prisons and shelters—have been told to monitor closely and report any cluster outbreaks within a day.
The 2026 vaccine allocation covers three strains (A/Missouri, A/Singapore, B/Victoria), split between the seven risk groups (194,820 doses), medical and public health staff (20,220) and prison inmates and staff (8,696), running from May to August or until stocks run out.
