Chiang Mai province has launched a final “Big Day” campaign encouraging residents to exercise their voting rights, setting a target of no fewer than 1.2 million voters participating in the upcoming election.
On the morning of 5th February 2026, at the Three Kings Monument, Chiang Mai Governor Ratthapol Naradisorn presided over the official launch of the final election awareness campaign for the general election of Members of the House of Representatives.
Joining the event were numerous dignitaries plus 1,000 participants from government agencies, private organisations, members of the public, students, and partner networks.
Following the ceremony, a public awareness procession was launched from the Three Kings Monument, travelling along Phra Pok Klao Road, turning onto Ratchadamnoen Road, and continuing towards Tha Pae Gate in Muang district to promote voter participation ahead of the election and referendum scheduled for 8th February.
This election marks the first time that voting and a referendum will be held simultaneously. Chiang Mai has more than 1.35 million eligible voters, an increase of approximately 26,000 voters compared to the 2023 election, largely due to new voters participating for the first time. Provincial authorities aim for voter turnout of at least 83 percent, or no fewer than 1.2 million voters, while invalid ballots are expected to remain below three percent, or no more than 30,000 ballots. Election officials anticipate vote counting at each polling station will be completed by around 7pm, with unofficial results expected by approximately 10pm.
Authorities also reminded election candidates that all campaign activities must cease from 6pm on 7th February 2026 until the election process is completed. No additional campaign materials, including signage or social media promotion, may be produced or displayed during this period. Meanwhile, the public is prohibited from selling, distributing, or providing alcoholic beverages from 6pm on 7th February 2026 until 6pm on 8th February 2026.
