Chiang Mai deputy governor Bunlue Thammatharanurak joined a student showcase at the Three Kings Monument plaza on October 4. The event, “Home Economics Creative Showcase 2026”, was organised by the Home Economics Department in the Faculty of Science and Technology at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University.
Students put their coursework to use in public. There were cooking and drink demonstrations, and a Thai-fabric fashion show by students from the fashion and textile design programme and partner networks, with more than 60 pieces drawing on local wisdom, Lanna culture and local materials, reworked in contemporary designs. Student-made products were on display and for sale: clothing and textiles, accessories, bags, handicrafts, food, snacks and drinks.
Students, entrepreneurs, communities, tourists and the general public were invited to browse and swap ideas. The organisers said the aim is to build students’ skills in design, cooking, management, teamwork, communication and running a business, while keeping Thai fabric, local knowledge and Lanna culture relevant to how people live now.
