A Chiang Mai Deputy Governor presided over a workshop of the Provincial Cluster Sub-committee on 10th June to begin drafting the Chiang Mai Provincial Development Plan 2028–2032 and the Annual Government Action Plan for fiscal year 2028. More than 120 representatives from government, private sector, academic, civil society, local administrative organisations and related agencies took part.

The five-year plan is the second to be produced under the framework of Chiang Mai’s 20 year development goals (2023–2042), aimed at driving sustainable growth in line with current changes across the economic, social, environmental and technological spheres, as well as national strategy and government policy.

The workshop gave all sectors the opportunity to analyse the province’s situation, strengths, opportunities and challenges, and to contribute ideas on development priorities, targets, indicators and approaches that reflect local needs. Representatives from the National Economic and Social Development Council and the Budget Bureau also attended as resource persons, offering guidance on plan preparation and annual action planning.

The session served as a platform for exchanging recommendations and setting a concrete, integrated direction for provincial development that can be translated into programmes, projects and budget requests across agencies.
