Operations began at 9am on 1st April under the direction of Panitan Kaeohtip, acting Chiang Dao district chief, with security personnel and local authorities deploying road-washing vehicles and water-misting equipment to reduce and trap PM2.5 particles. The measures follow several consecutive days of above-standard particulate readings across Chiang Dao that have had a broad impact on public health. The district command centre said operations will continue until conditions return to normal.
Chiang Mai province is asking residents to refrain from open burning, reduce dust-generating activities and monitor their health closely — particularly children, the elderly and those with respiratory conditions. Anyone who spots a forest fire, illegal burning or unusual haze is urged to notify local authorities or relevant hotlines immediately.
