Police and Chiang Mai officials raided a Chang Moi entertainment venue in the early hours of 12th September after residents complained of late-night noise and disturbances.
At around 2.50am, Chiang Mai Governor Rattaphon Naradisorn, Deputy Governor Chatchawan Panya, Chiang Mai Chief Clerk Chainarong Nantasai and Mueang Chiang Mai District Chief Warut Wisitsin ordered a joint operation between the district’s special task force and Mueang Chiang Mai police to inspect Nox Cnx, a venue at 310 Chang Moi Road, Si Phum. Complaints had alleged the venue was operating beyond legal hours, with intoxicated patrons causing disturbances on the public road outside.
Officers found the venue still open, with live DJ music and alcohol sales continuing well past the legal cutoff, and no licence to operate as an entertainment venue. Staff and customers, 77 people in total, were tested for drugs; none tested positive. The owner and manager were called in and charged.
Three charges were filed: operating an entertainment venue without a licence under the Entertainment Places Act 1966, selling alcohol beyond legal hours under the Alcohol Control Act 2008, and violating a 2015 NCPO order restricting late opening and alcohol sales at venues resembling entertainment establishments. The case has been forwarded to Mueang Chiang Mai police for further action.
