Central Pattana Plc has announced its largest transformation in over 30 years, reimagining Central Chiang Mai Airport as a new mixed-use landmark designed to support Chiang Mai’s potential as a world-class tourism destination. With an investment of THB 1.2 billion, the project is developed under the concept “Reimagining Lanna” on a total project area of more than 130 rai.

The redevelopment features a shopping complex with a gross building area (GBA) of 173,000 square metres, housing more than 350 leading global and local brands, alongside a 2,800-square-metre Convention Hall, a Tourist Hub with airport shuttle bus services, multi-generation spaces, and the first GO Wholesale in Northern Thailand. Future plans also include hotel and residential developments, reinforcing Central Chiang Mai Airport’s role as “The City’s New Signature Landmark.”

A New Landmark Designed for Chiang Mai

1. ‘Reimagining Lanna’ – Modern Design Inspired by Local Identity
The new design blends Lanna cultural identity with contemporary architecture, creating a seamless connection to Chiang Mai’s heritage. A key highlight is the expanded “Kad Luang” indoor local market, now more than three times larger, featuring Michelin-recognised eateries such as Koyi Khao Man Gai, Kua Kai Nimman, Khao Soi Lamduan Fah Ham, and Anchan Noodles, alongside local delicacies, northern souvenirs, and the Northern Village craft zone with over 100 shops. The space is positioned as a must-visit destination for quality tourists and the largest of its kind in Chiang Mai.

2. Home to 350 Global and Local Brands
The project brings together a comprehensive mix of fashion, lifestyle, food, beauty, IT, and financial services for both residents and tourists, including:
Northern Thailand Firsts: The largest MUJI Flagship Store in the region, CHAGEE premium Chinese tea brand, and HarborLand, a world-class indoor playground.
Renowned Dining & Michelin-Recognised Brands: Sushiro conveyor-belt sushi from Japan, Chan Thara, a Thai restaurant under the Michelin-listed Eakachai Group, with Saneh Thai Cuisine, a popular Michelin-listed halal restaurant, set to open in 2026.

Popular F&B Brands: Bear House, Boost Juice, GAGA, KOI Thé, MIXUE, Naisnow, and Potato Corner.

Fashion & Sports: UNIQLO, global sports brands such as Adidas, Nike, and PUMA, alongside Charles & Keith, Crocs, Gentlewoman, Skechers, Pomelo, and showcase brands including Mitr and With.it.

Tourist-Focused Brands: Hug Thai, Hug Craft, and Good Goods.

Central Group Businesses: Robinson Department Store, Tops Food Hall, Supersports, Power Buy, and B2S.

3. A Year-Round, All-Weather Tourism Destination
Central Chiang Mai Airport is positioned as a lifestyle and tourism hub that showcases Chiang Mai’s identity on a global stage through festivals and events throughout the year. Highlights include the Thai Local Pride Christmas Tree, a contemporary woven structure over 15 metres high under the concept “Weaving the Future, Embracing the Origin,” created in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture at Chiang Mai University and local bamboo craft brand VASSANA.

Other signature events include the city’s iconic Songkran celebrations such as “Paweni Pi Mai Muang Chiang Mai,” the Water War & Music Festival, and the Chiang Mai Flora Festival. The 2,800-square-metre Convention Hall also hosts major city events year-round, including Money Expo, Motor Expo, Chiang Mai Book Fair, concerts, and competitions, ensuring continuous traffic and economic activity.

Central Chiang Mai Airport stands as a testament to Central Pattana’s commitment to growing alongside Chiang Mai, strengthening the northern economy, and supporting sustainable development for the region.
