CityNews – A sedan car lost control and overshot a turning, crashing across Boon Ruengrit Road and into the main sign at the front of the AIA C.I. Tower on the southwest corner of the moat.
The incident was widely shared on social media on June 24 after Facebook user Faii KaiiHathaiphan shared photos taken from the scene.
On June 26, CCTV footage emerged and was shared on social media showing the crash in full.
The crash happened around 6am and the may 20 year old driver who has not been named crashed over the central reservation that directs traffic left towards the airport or right onto the west side of the moat, across the Boon Ruengrit Road and into the front sign of the AIA building.
Thankfully, at that time traffic was still light and the car missed all other vehicles before hitting the sign. A bike can be seen crossing the path of the car just seconds before the crash. The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Police are investigating what caused the driver to crash in such a way.
