A customer at a burger shop in Anusarn Night Bazaar found an unusual way to protest a long wait: hurling his order to the ground and stamping it flat, despite staff having flagged the queue when he ordered. The scene left both staff and passersby fairly stunned — and by the next night, the internet had other plans, with a steady stream of customers turning up to eat and show support after the story spread on social media.
Owner Chatphon Soonthornsingh took it in stride. Staff, he said, had told the customer about the wait beforehand, so the outburst remains something of a mystery. Three years and six branches in, he noted this was the first time queuing had ever caused so much as a raised eyebrow. He wasn’t buying the “customer’s always right” defence either — watching your own cooking get trodden into the pavement, he said, is nobody’s idea of a good day, staff included. Respect, he added, should run both ways across the counter.
Consider it a lesson learned: he’s reminded staff to be extra clear about wait times, while asking customers for a little patience — queues work best in order.
