Hundreds of villagers in Omkoi District came together to assist in pulling an ambulance from Mae Tuen Hospital out of a ravine more than 10 meters deep in Ban Nam Dan. The vehicle had veered off the road in an accident. It took nearly two hours for the tow truck and bring it back up to the road.

The accident occurred on the morning of May 31. The ambulance from Mae Tuen Hospital lost control while transporting a patient along the Omkoi–Mae Tuen Road in Ban Nam Dan, Mon Chong Subdistrict. The vehicle plunged off the roadside with 5 people on board: a young epilepsy patient and parents, a nurse, and the driver. Fortunately, no one got serious injuries.

The patient was transferred to Chom Thong Hospital for further treatment, while the remaining passengers were taken back to Mae Tuen Hospital. All five individuals, including the medical staff and the patient’s family were reported to be safe, suffering only minor injuries.

Mae Tuen Hospital, located in a remote area of Omkoi District, is over 250 kilometers from the city, which takes nearly 5 hours. Due to the area’s isolation and difficult terrain, the hospital was established just 5 years ago to better serve the local population.

The ambulance that was in the accident was the first ambulance of Mae Tuen Hospital, transferred from Omkoi Hospital. It is over 10 years old and has been providing services to patients in Omkoi for a long time. The accident caused the vehicle to be badly damaged. Meanwhile, netizens are sending encouragement and inviting to donate.
