Thailand is hosting the 10th AAHRS Scientific Meeting 2026 in Chiang Mai, bringing together more than 200 medical professionals from around the world to explore the latest developments in artificial intelligence, regenerative medicine and advanced hair restoration techniques.
The international conference is being held from 7th–9th August 2026 at InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping under the theme “Mega Trend in Hair Restoration Surgery.”
The meeting has attracted leading hair restoration surgeons, researchers and medical professionals from across the globe, including Dr. Russell Knudsen of Australia, who has practised hair restoration surgery since 1984. A former President of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), Dr. Knudsen is a recipient of both the ISHRS Gold Follicle Award and the ISHRS Lifetime Achievement Award, and is also Editor Emeritus of the Hair Transplant Forum International.
Throughout the three-day conference, participants are exchanging knowledge and presenting advances in hair restoration surgery and regenerative hair medicine, with topics including artificial intelligence, precision medicine, regenerative medicine, stem cells, exosomes, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), energy-based lasers and peptide therapy.
The programme also covers advanced techniques such as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Direct Hair Implantation (DHI), alongside live surgery demonstrations and practical workshops designed to raise treatment standards and strengthen international professional networks.
Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich, President of the Asian Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons (AAHRS), said Thailand’s selection as host of the conference reflects international confidence in the expertise of Thai physicians and the country’s internationally recognised standards of medical care.
He said the meeting provides an important platform for knowledge exchange and the sharing of medical innovation, while supporting Thailand’s ambition to become a leading medical hub and a regional centre for hair restoration surgery in Asia.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ratchathorn Panchaprateep, Chairman of the Scientific Programme, said one of the most significant future trends in the field is the integration of AI into treatment planning, alongside increasingly precise technologies for harvesting and transplanting hair follicles.
She added that regenerative approaches involving stem cells, exosomes and PRP are also expected to play a growing role in improving treatment effectiveness and patient outcomes.
Dr. Kanokwan Janta-uppalee, Chairman of the Programme of Events, said hosting the conference not only creates an international platform for the exchange of medical knowledge, but also strengthens Thailand’s image as a medical hub and enhances its potential as a centre for hair restoration surgery and wellness tourism in Asia.
Meanwhile, Dr. Kulkarn Amornpattana, MD, FISHRS, Chairman of Live Surgery, said the live surgical demonstrations are among the key highlights of the event.
They give participating doctors the opportunity to observe real procedures, study new surgical techniques and safety standards, and apply the knowledge gained to improve patient care in their own practices.
With more than 200 participants attending from around the world, the 10th AAHRS Scientific Meeting 2026 serves as an important platform connecting medical knowledge, innovation and international collaboration.
The event also reinforces the growing role of Thailand — and Chiang Mai in particular — as an international centre for medicine, research, hair restoration surgery and health tourism.
