Tourism Authority of Thailand Chiang Mai and Citylife jointly held the Bubbles on the Ping event last night, a wonderful event which we now hope to make a regular activity for Chiang Mai tourism in the high season.
This idea was proposed to TAT by Citylife as a way to turn the Ping River into a new and dynamic tourism destination. With so many fantastic businesses – five star hotels, boutique hostels, restaurants, bars and cafes – flanking the Ping River, we felt as though this major artery through our city, one which was the raison d’etre for our city, could be turned into a new revenue stream for tourism related businesses and all those with river front properties.
On the evening of Sunday 10th July thirty guests and customers boarded two boats from the Na Nirand Romantic Riverside Boutique hotel, after enjoying savoury and sweet treats along with Prosecco at the hotel. The guests enjoyed snacks and delicious Prosecco on board the boat before docking for more canapés and wines at Deck 1.
The cruise continued down the Ping, stopping off for a delightful punch and wines as well as nibbles at the new Buri Sri Ping Hotel and a spectacular offering of French canapés and bubblies at the magnificent Le Crystal Restaurant before arriving at Cross Chiang Mai Riverside’s vast river facing lawn for even more Prosecco.
Guests were then served a six course dinner at Oxygen Restaurant, with two of the dishes being Thailand Iron Chef award winning dishes. Wine flowed, live music was performed and there was an impromptu performance by songbird and pop diva Lanna Commins.
Guests included owners of some of Chiang Mai’s largest tour companies, owners of businesses along the Ping, the media and Citylife’s readers. It was agreed by TAT and the tour companies that this activity could become a major draw for higher end tourists to Chiang Mai and there will be meetings in the coming months as to how to make this a regular activity in the high season, hopefully expanding it to encompass many more businesses along the river.
Citylife is committed to continue our three decades work of being a part of the Chiang Mai community and doing whatever we can to make our city a wonderful place to live for all. For more information please follow facebook.com/tatchiangmai.
Citylife would like to thank all involved for making this incredible night beyond our expectations.
