A swarm of giant honeybees attacked students at Wat Weluwan School in Yang Noeng, Saraphi District, injuring 27 children. Rescue teams rushed multiple ambulances to transport the children to hospital. It is believed loud noise disturbed the hive. All students are now safe.

At around 1 pm 2 days ago rescue units from Saraphi and nearby areas responded to an emergency call from teachers reporting that a hive of giant honeybees had swarmed and stung several students, most of them young children.

When rescuers arrived, they found 27 primary students, both boys and girls, suffering from stings on their bodies and heads. The children were quickly taken to hospitals for treatment.

Initial reports suggest that during the lunch break, the school band was rehearsing for a ceremony to welcome a new director. The loud sounds may have disturbed a large beehive in a nearby tree, causing the bees to swarm and attack instinctively. Students and teachers tried to flee, but many were stung before escaping.

Rescue officials confirmed all children are now safe, though some remain swollen. Parents have been notified, and the hive will be safely removed to prevent future incidents.
