Chiang Mai’s Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) Park has expanded its collection of animals, adding several rare and beautiful pheasants to its grounds to enhance the park’s appeal as a popular leisure and tourism destination.

PAO Chairman Pichai Lertpongadisorn formally received the new additions, which include three pairs of Hume’s pheasants and two pairs of White Eared pheasants from the Protected Areas Regional Office 16, Chiang Mai. The park also welcomed one pair of Lady Amherst’s pheasants, donated by Sujin Saengkaew, Mayor of Pa Miang Subdistrict, Doi Saket District, and two pairs of Golden pheasants, donated by Nikorn Kanyawong, PAO Council Member for Chom Thong District.

After the handover, the pheasants were released into specially prepared enclosures within the park, where they are now on display for the public and tourists to admire and learn about.

“These pheasants are not only strikingly beautiful but also significant as they come from the Omkoi Wildlife Breeding Station in Chiang Mai,” said Pichai. He added that the Protected Areas Office has loaned the birds to the PAO Park, with veterinarians and staff scheduled to provide regular care.

The new arrivals join the park’s growing collection of animals, which already includes swans, pygmy goats, Mandarin ducks, and koi fish—all of which have drawn positive feedback from locals and visitors alike. The park has quickly become a lively landmark and favourite recreation spot, attracting thousands of people each day.

Looking ahead, further improvements and activities are planned, including the Charming Chiang Mai Flower Festival at the end of the year—an event expected to boost tourism and stimulate the province’s economy.
