Thailand Plans 642 Million Baht Plant in Philippines

CityNews – Thailand’s Mahaphant Group, one of the largest manufacturers of environmentally-friendly fibre cement boards, siding, roofing, and concrete roof tiles in Thailand, is planning to set up a production plant in the Philippines to serve emerging Southeast Asian markets in the region.

An official from the company said that estimated investment into the plant will be 642 million baht, and that operations are expected to commence by 2017. The company currently exports their products to more than 40 countries globally and has three manufacturing plants in Thailand.

The plant plans to employ around 200 workers in the Philippines, and is eager to meet the ongoing construction needs of people affected by the Haiyan typhoon.
