CityNews – The Press for the Annual Conference Chiang Mai Design Awards (CDA) by Chiang Mai Creative City (CMCC) held at the Thailand Creative Design Centre (TCDC). It is an initiative that aims to promote innovation and creativity across a range o design categories.
The CDA focuses on design, often with a contemporary touch, rather than pure art or craft. The purpose is to showcase Chiang Mai’s talent and highlight why design is important and adds value. The first Chiang Mai design Award was launched in 2012 and it is now entering the third year.
The Chiang Mai Design Awards 2014 will be supported by more than 20 voluntary judges and distinguished advisers – many of which are well recognised designers, university lecturers in relevant fields, or individuals who have a professional interest in design. This year there are six broad categories 1. Architecture &Interior 2. Crafts, furniture, decorative items and fashion accessories 3.New Media 4. Corporate identity design 5. Packaging design and 6. Retail design and merchandising display
