CityNews – Flood preventions are in motion as Chiang Mai cleans its gutters to prepare for heavy rainfall. The city is working to rid the streets of weeds, debris and other rubbish that could attribute to flooding.
Tassanai Buranupakorn, Mayor of Chiang Mai, along with his officers recently began the project in the Mae Kha Channel and other channels throughout markets in Chiang Mai. Tassanai said that all eight floodgates must be ready in 24 hours and clearing out excessive trash and natural debris will prevent water logging and ensure proper water drainage when floods hit home.
