Lychee Production in Northern Thailand is Going well says Chiang Mai Agricultural Office

CityNews – There has been 25,000 tons of lychee production this year says the agricultural office, and the price of the fruit is good, unlike the price over the last two years which has been low.

Surapon Thongthieng, the head of production and development at Chiang Mai Agricultural Office, reported that the lychee situation in Chiang Mai and other areas of northern Thailand is stable in spite of bad weather conditions. The production of lychee is only down 4,611 tons from last year, he added.

The Northern Economic Fruits Survey Office said that from May to late June the price might decrease, however, related organisations have prepared solutions whereby lychee will be marketed and distributed nationwide and to neighboring countries such as Singapore and Malaysia. There will also be lychee exhibitions to promote the fruit, notably at Siam Paragon from 14th – 16th June.

Currently, the price of lychee in the market (Jakkrapat species) is 27 – 29 baht for AA grade, 22 – 25 baht for A grade, 12 – 15 baht for B grade and 6 – 10 baht for C grade.
