CityNews – Boonsong Meisuk, the head of Production Support and Deveopment of the Chiang Mai Agricultural Department revealed that in 2012-2013, Chiang Mai grew 316,143 rai of longan (266,937 tons).

During the longan season, 230,486 rai was used to produce 183,960 tons of longan. Out of season, 70,230 rai was used to produce 82,977 tons of longan. Due to the changes in weather conditions, there has been a production decrease of longan of 2.40%.

Chiang Mai collected the harvest report from the longan agriculture districts of Phrao, Chom Thong, Saraphee, and Doi Lo. The report showed that all production would be harvested by late July-August. The Office of Agricultural Economics set the price of exported longan at 21.50 baht per kilogram (AA grade), 17.67 baht per kilogram (A grade), and 10.33 baht (B grade). For the domestic market, the price of longan is 19.33 baht per kilogram (AA grade), 17.50 baht per kilogram (A Grade), and 7.33 baht per kilogram (B grade).
