CityNews – A fake bomb was found after residents discovered it on the bank of the Ping River, next to a bus stop, this morning June 9.

Police and bomb disposal attended the scene and deduced that bomb was fake M61 grenade.

Officials believe that teenagers must have left the bomb after they were afraid the police may catch them in possession.

Once recovered, police discovered that the fake grenade was actually a working lighter, designed like the bomb. However, the design was very similar to that of a real grenade, including the text and serial codes of a real weapon.

Police believe the fake grenade was used to threaten another group of teenagers, and then disposed of on the river bank.
