CityNews – Demand for heliborne services in Asia have been on the rise, and Eurocopter has taken advantage by doing a demo tour in Bangkok for its modern models, EC175 and EC145 T2.

The company aims to add 50 aircraft to the 35 in the Thai fleet within the next two years. Four units will be delivered to the Royal Thai Army by the end of the year.

Eurocopter is the largest helicopter manufacturer worldwide and has an Asian network of 10 subsidiaries in places like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines and Australia.

The EC175 helicopter model is fully equipped and versatile – perfect for the oil and gas industries. With a capacity of 16 – 18 passengers, the helicopter has lower operating costs than most other 7-ton choppers. PPT Exploration and Production and Chevron Thailand, the two biggest petroleum producers in Thailand, will be targeted by Eurocopter’s sales pitches in future.

Thailand has the largest fleet in Southeast Asia, with over 300 vehicles, which reflects Eurocopter’s eagerness to please the growing market. Around 35 helicopters of the Thai fleet are used for corporate transport and emergency medical services. The company, however, is hoping to raise its profile in Thailand’s military market, which has long been dominated by US-run helicopter companies.
