CityNews – A Chinese man was arrested by Sansai police after failing to return a hire bike back to its owner.
On May 4, police were informed that a rental bike from Richard Motorcycle Rental Shop was stolen from a hotel in Thapae after a Chinese national, 25-year-old Yu Tangqiu, stolethe keys from the front desk.
Police successfully tracked down the man on May 28 and arrested him, seizing the motorcycle.
While police were questioning Yu at the road side, another Chinese woman came up to them to report he had swindled money off her. He had allegedly swindled around 100,000 baht from this woman, and others.
Yu was also found to have overstayed his visa in the kingdom and police are preparing to prosecute him.
Currently, overstaying a visa can result in heavy fines and a ban for up to 10 years depending on the length of overstay.
