Chiang Mai to Encourage Long Stay Tourism among Japanese Seniors

CityNews – On 10th July, at Centara Duangtawan Hotel, Chiang Mai province and upper northern region provinces including Lamphun, Lampang and Mae Hong Son, held a seminar called ‘The Attitude of Japanese Entrepreneurs and Long Stays in Chiang Mai.’

The seminar discussed investments, marketing, and long-term plans of Japanese tourists.

Adisorn Kamnerdsiri, the deputy governor of Chiang Mai, told the press that Chiang Mai had attractive geography, great natural resources, nice people, and tourism efficiency. Long Stay tourists, particularly amongst Japanese people, was becoming more popular. Adisorn said that of the 3,800 – 4,000 Japanese seniors in Chiang Mai there was potential to earn money.

Chalermchart Nakarangkul, the president of Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce, said that this seminar aimed to develop long stay tourism as well as to urge the ‘target tourists’ to come to Chiang Mai. Long Stay tourism is popular in northern Thailand he said because it’s so safe, there’s no pollution, and the city has a low cost of living as well as good medical standards.

The Japanese representatives who attended the seminar echoed Chalermchart saying that Japanese seniors enjoy the quality medical services, cheap accommodation, good supermarkets, and the low cost of living.
