Lockdown imminent as Chiang Mai’s numbers soar to 1,461

The field hospital is reportedly getting filled up after today’s number of people positive for the virus reached 1,461.

Doctors from Suan Prung Psychiatric hospital are visiting asymptomatic people currently in quarantine after reports of stress, depression and other problems manifesting.

There are currently 15,000 people being monitored for having been in close proximity with those with the virus.

There are currently 1,500 beds available at the Convention Centre field hospital, with 900 currently being used. Another 2,000 beds are being prepared, with more being sourced.

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha has ordered the Public Health Ministry to prepare for a lockdown in high risk areas – Bangkok and surroundings, Chiang Mai, Prachuab Khiri Khan and some provinces in Isaan which haven’t been specified as yet.
