Ezy Airlines is preparing to launch a new air service between Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son, with initial flights scheduled to begin on 17th September 2026 and full operations from 1st October.

The new route aims to improve connectivity between the two northern provinces while supporting tourism and regional economic activity.

On 14th July, Ezy Airlines executive Thanee Tharapak and representatives of the airline travelled aboard a 12-seat aircraft from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son, where they met with provincial authorities and local tourism stakeholders.

The delegation was welcomed by Udomsak Khaonuna, Deputy Governor of Mae Hong Son, along with representatives from Mae Hong Son Airport, Mae Hong Son Municipality and the province’s tourism sector.

A meeting at Mae Hong Son Municipality focused on cooperation surrounding the new air route and strategies to encourage tourism across Chiang Mai, Pai and Mae Hong Son.

Tourism Packages and Regional Partnerships

Discussions centred on the development of integrated tourism packages connecting flights with hotels, resorts, restaurants, tour operators and local attractions.

Under proposed “Fly & Stay” and bundled travel packages, visitors would be able to combine flights with accommodation and tourism experiences, creating more convenient travel options to Mae Hong Son.

The meeting also explored long-term cooperation between government agencies and private-sector tourism businesses, including potential Memoranda of Understanding to support joint tourism promotion and the development of new travel products.

Officials and tourism operators hope the improved air connection will help attract more visitors to Mae Hong Son and Pai, particularly travellers seeking shorter and more convenient alternatives to travelling by road.

EZY Connect Lanna 2026

Ezy Airlines will officially introduce the new route during “EZY Connect Lanna 2026”, to be held on 14th August at Central Chiang Mai Airport.

The event will feature business matching activities bringing together tourism operators, government agencies and private-sector partners.

Mae Hong Son businesses and community groups will also be invited to present local tourism products, food, culture and destinations, including Ban Rak Thai, Pang Ung and the province’s famous Mexican sunflower fields.

Thanee said cooperation between the public and private sectors would be important to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the new route.

“The meeting demonstrated strong cooperation between organisations that share a commitment to Mae Hong Son,” he said. “We believe this collaboration can support sustainable tourism and help the Chiang Mai–Mae Hong Son air connection grow in the long term.”

Mae Hong Son Tourism Sector Welcomes New Flights

Local tourism businesses have welcomed the announcement, saying direct air services could significantly reduce travel time and make the province more accessible.

Butsabowalee Chatiwiang, a Mae Hong Son restaurant owner who joined a trial flight, said visitors frequently ask whether flights to the province are available.

“Many tourists tell us they want to visit Mae Hong Son and are ready to travel, but they are looking for a convenient air connection,” she said.

Natthaset Photphet, a public relations committee member of the Mae Hong Son Tourism Industry Council, said the province was ready to welcome additional visitors.

“Mae Hong Son has a wide range of accommodation and restaurants, both in the town and in destinations such as Ban Rak Thai,” he said. “Tourism operators are also preparing packages to support the new route.”

The Chiang Mai–Mae Hong Son service will use 12-seat aircraft, offering passengers views across northern Thailand’s mountainous landscape.

Ezy Airlines is scheduled to begin flights on 17th September, ahead of full operations from 1st October 2026.
