Asset World Corps (AWC) held a press conference yesterday to announce the upcoming Lannatique project, Chiang Mai’s newest, ‘cultural landmark’ which will become the, ‘Heart of of Lanna Art Movement’, blending contemporary art with traditional Lanna culture, which will be in the Chang Klan area, according to developers. The total investment will be nearly 12 billion baht which will spread across the company’s estimated 100 rai plots of land along the Chang Klan area and will initially include a Lannatique Kalare village of culture over a 55,000 square metre plot of land which will be completed in the eighth phrase.

The first phrase, however, will be the Lannatique Bazaar, covering a 17,500 square metre shopping and retail space featuring contemporary as well as Lanna art. The area will include high end Thai art and handicrafts in the Thai Craftsmanship Village, a cultural village which will be inclusive of the region’s many ethnic grous as well as the more modern and innovative Creative Art Village. This first stage will be connected to one of AWC’s hotels, to draw international tourists.

The Pantip Lifestyle Hub is also currently being developed for 800 million baht to add more entertainment options.

The 22,500 square metre Lannatique Bazaar will feature contemporary art spaces, connecting to yet another of AWC’s hotels. The Lannatique Market, covering 87,000 square metres will feature retail spaces which will attract many local businesses, such as the already signed up 6ixcret Show and Ekkachan Restaurant.

In addition to AWC’s current hotels—InterContinental Hotel Chiang Mai Mae Ping, Marriott Chiang Mai, Melia Hotel and Dusit D2 Hotel, there will be the Okura Hotel Chiang Mai, which will feature a ryokan immersive cultural experience featuring on atmosphere and culture over modern conveniences. Yet another new hotel in the same family as the Melia will also be announced to open as well as an 87,000 square metre Lanna Market which will feature both community products as well as a sustainable society model.

A Chiang Mai Tram by Lannatique will be implemented, an electric tram system which will be the first of its kind in Thailand. This tram system will connect communities, temples, cultural and historical sights as well as around 40 famous restaurants and bars, around Chiang Mai including Tha Pae Gate, Wat Phra Singh, Wat Chedi Luang, Warorot Market, Klong Mae Kha, and Lannatique partners such as Panthip Lifestyle Hub as well as all hotels with in the umbrella from Marriott Chiang Mai to Intercontinental to Melia. The aim is to reduce the emissions of CO2, by using electric energy as well as provide ease of access for tourists both Thai and foreign.

This project is the brainchild of Wallapa Traisorat, CEO and President of Asset World Corp Public Limited and heir of tycoon Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi.

“AWC is committed to the development of the ‘Lannatique’, aimed at fostering value and growth for all stakeholders involved, while also extending support to local entrepreneurs in Chiang Mai and the northern region. We are inviting artists, restaurant operators, and store owners distributing products or services related to Lanna art and culture in various fields to join forces in the upcoming ‘Lannatique’. This initiative aligns with AWC’s commitment to promoting and supporting the integration of all forms of art and shops, infusing happiness and deliciousness into every area within the project. Our goal is to promote and preserve the timeless value and charm of the past, while inspiring modern design for the future. Ultimately, we aim to support a tourism destination that presents valuable art and culture stories to tourists and travellers from all over the world.” Wallapa announced.
