Working Committee Must be Set up by End of May, Doi Suthep Campaigners Say

CityNews – The campaign group against the ‘Scar of Doi Suthep’ have issued a demand to the authorities, asking that a working committee is set up by the end of the month.

After the ongoing battle between the people and the judicial officers regarding the residences on Doi Suthep came to an end, the group of campaigners have remained diligent, monitoring the processes closely after the Office of the Prime Minister declared it should be returned to the forest.

A meeting was held yesterday, May 14th, to discuss the steps needed to set up a working committee. Teerasak Lubsuwan, the campaign against the Scar of Doi Suthep coordinator stated that it is understandable that the working process is a little sluggish given the complexities, however he plans to push that a fully working committee is set up by the end of May.

If a working committee is not set up by the end of the month, he promised to campaign and demand more involvement in the processes to help speed it up.

Teerasak also allegedly confirmed a rumour that Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha will be visiting Chiang Mai soon, saying that the group is planning to welcome the PM in the hope that he will bring good news regarding the case.
