Tourism Thailand Invites Travellers to Poy Sang Long, a Shan Ceremony in Tak

CityNews – The Tourism Authority of Thailand invites all travellers to experience a Shan traditional ceremony, Poy Sang Long, at Wat Thai Wattanaram, A. Mae Sot, Tak.

Poy Sang Long is a traditional ceremony of Shan people that occurs annually between March and May, after the harvesting and during the school break.

This year the event will be held on 2-4 April 2018, at Wat Thai Wattanaram.

This is a rite practiced by the sons who will ordain as monks and bring large amounts of merit to their family. The ceremony is held for three days with activities include feasting, gift giving, ritual bathing, musical performances and more.
