Tadpoles Reaching 400 baht a Kilo at Markets

CityNews – Villagers in Doi Saket are earning an extra cash from selling tadpoles, a delicacy that appears in periods of heavy rain.

Doi Saket, along with most of Chiang Mai, has been facing a continue rainfall for the past few weeks. The wet and humid environment has encouraged frogs to fertilise and lay their eggs.

Villagers in Ban Mae Dok Dang, Choeng Doi revealed to the press that before entering rice farming season, the tadpoles provide them with extra income.

Villagers will be collecting tadpoles from the puddles in the paddy field to cook or sell to market vendors. Prices range from 300 to 400 baht per kilo.
