CityNews – The Royal Project and the Research and Development Inland Fisheries Centre have announced the sale of locally produced rainbow trout caviar after successful breeding programs in Jomthong district.
The breeding program began in 2005, and was very successful. Today they have over 20 tonnes of Rainbow Trout producing large amounts of caviar that can be sold at a local price.
Normally, sturgeon in the Caspian Sea, Russia, are the main source for such caviar, with prices reaching 200,000 baht per kilo.
However, thanks to the successful breeding project, Royal Project will no begin selling their premium caviar at 5,000 baht per 100 grams.
