CityNews – A restaurant on Ratchadamnoen road has been accused of dumping waste water on the street, causing motorcycles driving past the restaurant to slip and crash because of the grease, but the owner denies any wrongdoing.

Police were informed of an accident on Ratchadamnoen Road due to greasy waste water spread all over the street on September 13. The issue was also brought up on social media, with posts blaming the suspected restaurant for a lack of social responsibility.

After checking CCTV to ensure the claim was accurate, the police saught an explanation from the restaurant owner. The owner said, on September 18, that the waste water was leakage from a rubbish bag that was in front of their restaurant waiting to be collected by the bin men. It was ran over by a car in the middle of the night, spraying its contents all over the road. The owner also added that accusations that they were dumping waste water was completely unfounded and they were actually trying to clean up the street when they found the open bag in the morning.

The restaurant owner also showed police their properly installed grease trap and water treatment system, and said that for the 21 years the restaurant has been open, not one time have they broken any dumping or waste water rules.
