CityNews – Special Operation Unit, Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation along with Superintendent of the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park and team went to investigate forest encroachment in T. Mae Ram, A. Mae Rim. The officers believe powerful people are involved in the case.

The team has furthered their investigation after encroachment was found by satellite and visited the area on August 28th. They found that a fence was built with a sign marking that the 7 rai 1 ngarn area belongs to a Suwan Thawornwong.

Head of Special Operation Unit told reporters that this overlapping area claimed by Suwan has been through the appeal process with prosecution three times and all were denied.

The intention to claim the area is clear and if a title deed were to be issued, the land value could reach at least 2 million baht per rai, according to Superintendent of the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park.

The team has agreed that this is a high-risk case as there might be powerful forces behind the land, and needed to coordinate with the Royal Forest Department to gather the evidence for further prosecution.
