Police Crackdown on Street Beggars
CityNews – Police have issued a crackdown on beggars in Chiang Mai.
After news broke out earlier this week concerning beggars who were allegedly terrifying passersby on the street, police have decided to initiate a crackdown. On the night of August 5th and 6th, the investigation team visited locations such as Warorot Market, Mae Kha Bridge and Chiang Mai Gate Market where beggars have been spotted.
Over ten beggars have been reportedly arrested with about three people having been imprisoned and the rest were warned by police.
